Lay Governing Body member for primary care and prevention

Are you passionate about improving primary care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly? Do you believe people should be supported to make healthy lifestyle choices and manage any long term conditions they have? If you are, then come and join our Governing Body to champion primary care and prevention services.

We’re looking for someone who will support the work of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly’s sustainability and transformation plan, locally known as Shaping Our Future. We are committed to improve people’s health and wellbeing, in particular extending prevention and self-care initiatives so people can live well for longer. We’re now looking for someone to join us in this newly-created governing body role to support us with this work.

We’re looking for someone who can inspire trust and respect with others; has the confidence to debate and challenge in formal meetings, sometimes in public. As a lay member, you will have the resilience and courage to take tough decisions when they are needed.

Your focus will be strategic and impartial and you will provide an external view of NHS Kernow’s work. You will also have a good understanding of health and care issues in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, and the capability to understand and analyse complex issues and data, balanced with a general understanding of good governance and the difference between governance and management.

To apply, please click here for more information and an application form. The closing date for applications is noon on Friday, 7 September, with interviews planned to take place on Monday, 24 September.

You can also speak to Dr Iain Chorlton, Chairman, or Jackie Pendleton, Chief Officer, by calling 01726 627942 or Trudy Corsellis, Board Secretary on 07881 804867. Our three Governing Body Lay Members are also happy to talk to prospective candidates.
