Top nurses shortlisted for south west practice nursing awards

Some of Cornwall’s top nurses have been recognised for their dedication to care for others during the past year by being shortlisted for the 2021 south west practice nursing celebration awards.
The awards recognise excellence in general practise nursing across the south west, there are 8 categories covering innovation, working collaboratively and going above and beyond. The people nominated for awards are:

Paul Jeffrey and Julie Arrowsmith nominated for the general practice nurse leadership award, which recognises exceptional team support, innovation and improvement of patient experience.

Georgina Williams for the nursing associate of the year award, for demonstrating excellent patient care, great teamwork, and willingness to be involved and innovate.

The Kernow training hub team for the unsung hero award. The team has been recognised as going the extra mile to support and improve conditions for general practice nurses so they can give patients the care they need.

Quay Lane surgery and St Austell healthcare teams for the working collaboratively towards the future award.

St Mary’s health centre practice nursing team for the above and beyond practice nurse award.

The winners will be announced during a virtual celebration event on 11 February 2021.

NHS Kernow Clinical Commissioning Group chief nurse Natalie Jones said: “Congratulations to everyone nominated for an award. It demonstrates the hard work and resilience of our caring nurses who have worked under extreme pressure during the past year to provide care for people living in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.”
