Emma Spouse is the diagnostic imaging lead at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. She said: “People living in the mid and east of the county now have access to modern x-ray facilities closer to home for longer. This means that they will be seen much more quickly, treated locally to where they live and then can return home to start their recovery with no need to make the journey to the acute hospital.
“By opening the X-ray department for longer we aim to reduce visits to the main emergency department in Truro, which has been extremely busy in recent weeks. Whilst also providing more x-ray appointments at convenient times for those with routine outpatient referrals.”
